Replace Toilet Floor Flange
A toilet flange has a metal or plastic ring that holds the toilet to the floor and when the ring breaks it can render the toilet unusable.
Replace toilet floor flange. The keys to success are precise measurements so that you purchase the right sized replacement flange and extra attention to ensure that the toilet sits flush on the floor at the end of the project. Usually made of pvc rubber or metal this piece is circular in shape and usually secured in place with a few bolts. Slip the repair flange spanner under the broken toilet flange but put one of the toilet bolts through the hole in the spanner first in order to easily reinstall the toilet. To replace a toilet flange lay newspaper down on the floor around the toilet and turn off the water to the toilet before flushing and siphoning all of the water out of the bowl.
Replace the nuts on the bolts. Lay the toilet on its side and put the new wax ring on the round mouth that sits on top of the flange. Replace the toilet by lining up the holes on the toilet base with the two bolts. Then remove the toilet by disconnecting the hoses and unscrewing the bolts on the floor.
Press down to seal the wax ring with the flange. Installed together with a wax ring the hydroseat technology ensures a tight leak free seal and features a self centering rubber funnel that fits any toilet or closet flange. Step 5 clean up around the bottom of the toilet and place the new wax ring on the repaired flange. The toilet flange also known as a closet flange is the part of the toilet that secures the unit to the floor which connects to the drain pipe.
Make sure to keep the toilet straight and as perpendicular as possible when lowering.
